Houston steel tonnages fall in May

Steel handled at Port of Houston Authority docks fell in May compared with a year ago, the fist year-on-year decline in 2015. Port of Houston Authority docks handled 497,000 tons of steel in May, down 5.9 percent from 528,000 tons a year earlier. But the year-to-date total of nearly 3.13 million tonnes was up 41.5 percent from 2.21 million tonnes in the first five months of last year and 18.9 percent ahead of 2.63 million tons in the same period in 2013.
