Mills reduce published prices for merchant bar

Nucor Corp., Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) and other merchant bar producers have reduced their published prices. The companies have dropped their list prices for benchmark 2- x 2- x 1/4-inch angles to $34.90 per hundredweight ($698 per ton) from $36.15 per cwt ($723 per ton). The announcements were the first change in published merchant bar prices since mills announced a $40-per-ton ($2-per-cwt) cut in early February (amm.com, Feb. 9).
