BHP Billiton demerger gets shareholder nod

BHP Billiton Ltd. shareholders have approved the demerger of South32, paving the way for the miner to focus on core assets. The Anglo-Australian mining company will cease trading with an entitlement to South32 shares at the end of May 15 on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
