Man accused of stealing copper may be tied to theft ring

A man arrested in connection with the alleged theft of copper wire in Indiana is believed to be tied to a ring involved in the theft of shipments worth millions of dollars, according to an affidavit fired in Marshall County (Ind.) Superior Court. The group allegedly has stolen between 25 and 30 truck cargoes in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Texas and four other states over the past two years by “using fictitious pickups with the stolen identities of legitimate trucking companies,” according to the probable cause affidavit.
