Estimation of the Power of the Kruskal-Wallis Test

Power calculations of u statistical lest require thai the underlying population distrihution(s) he comple-tely specified. Statisticians, in practice, may not have complete knowledge of the entire nature of the underlying dislrihiition(s) and tire at ii loss lor aileulaling the exact power of the test. In such cases, an estimate of the power would provide u suitable substitute. In this paper, we are interested in estimating the power of (he Kruskal-Wullis one-way analysis of variance by ranks test for a location shift.
