Airbus delivers first major wing parts for A350 plane

Airbus SAS, which recently extended its relationship with a key titanium supplier, has delivered the first major composite wing component for its new A350 XWB (extra-widebody) airliners.The European aircraft manufacturer said the upper cover of the A350's composite flyable wing was shipped from its Stade, Germany, plant to its wing assembly site in Brough-ton, England. The A350 wing cover measures about 105 feet by 20 feet, which Airbus said makes it the largest single-carbon fiber part ever made for civil aviation.
