摘要

Only about half of the agrochemicals that are anticipated to be required for the current year in Brazil have been sold. That compares with some 80% by the middle of August last year, Brazilian news service Canal Rural reports. It cites the agriculture and veterinary inputs distributors association, the Andav, president Henrique Mazotini, speaking at the association’s sixth annual congress. Mr Mazotini reportedly claims that instability in the national economy and changes in currency rates are impacting pesticide sales, while a further factor is that pesticides are “the last input that growers buy making their sales more heavily affected” by economy concerns. He repeated his previously voiced concern that a “logistics bottleneck” could ensue as growers attempt to make bulk purchases at a similar time.
