The chair of the US House of Representatives’ Science Committee says that there is ample evidence of “activists working inside and outside” the US EPA to “derail” the Agency’s ongoing review of the herbicide, glyphosate. In a scathing letter sent to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, Committee chair Lamar Smith called into doubt the integrity of the EPA review and questioned the role of several Agency officials in last year’s decision by the UN WHO’s International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) to declare glyphosate a probable human carcinogen.
