Argentina reportedly plans to block soybean dealers from collecting royalty payments on behalf of Monsanto and other seed suppliers. Argentine media report an Agriculture Ministry official saying that a potential regulation is imminent that would freeze contracts between Monsanto and dealers and exporters that include the collection of royalties on genetically modified seed. An anti-trust investigation is considering complaints from various grower and seed multiplication associations last year accusing Monsanto of abuse of market power. They relate to the awarding of exclusive licences for supplying and charging for its GM insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant Intacta RR2 Pro (MON87701xMON89788) soybeans.
