China manufactured over 1.8 million tonnes of agrochemicals in the first half of 2014, an increase of 0.7% on the same period last year. Manufacturing in June alone dropped 6% to 318,000 tonnes. The data for June were based on 337 manufacturers "of a certain scale" collected by the National Bureau of Statistics and reported by the China Crop Protection Industry Association. The manufacturers were split between 142 insecticide producers, 118 herbicide companies and 77 manufacturers of fungicides. China's five-month output increased by 2.9% to 1.5 million tonnes (Agrow No 692, p 21).
