Sumitomo agchem sales up 12% in 2014/15

Sumitomo Chemical’s agrochemical sales recorded an 11.7% rise to ￥223,415 million ($1,811.9 million at the current exchange rate) in the year ended March 31st 2015. A rise in sales of herbicides and fungicides in North America spurred growth. The region accounted for almost a third (32.5%) of sales and also led growth with an increase of over a third (33.4%) to ￥72,551 million. Sales in the domestic market of Japan were down 4.4% to ￥62,985 million. The decline was a result of an increase in consumption tax and lower sales of herbicides and fungicides.
