Green groups press for US action to protect bees from neonics

Environmental groups have stepped up their efforts to force the US EPA and the California EPA's Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) to restrict use of neonicotinoid insecticides, arguing that the pesticides are a key factor in bee declines across the nation. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) filed a petition this month with the EPA calling on the Agency to immediately launch an expedited review of neonicotinoid insecticides to determine if new restrictions or a complete ban may be warranted to protect bees and other pollinators.
