Syngenta's agrochemical sales rose by 2.9% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year to $2,486 million, but were flat at constant exchange rates (CER). Chief executive officer Mike Mack welcomes the results as a turnaround on the back of "solid volume growth" for the three months. "After a slow first quarter, demand for products has increased significantly in 2010," he says. Syngenta enjoyed double-digit growth in volumes. Revenues were down almost 3% in the first three months, and by more than double that at CER (Agrow No 590, p 4).
