摘要

A study was conducted to investigate the effects of planting distance on yield of broad beans (Vicia faba L.), also known as fava beans, using drip irrigation. The yields of three different species of broad beans (Spanish, Turkish and Iraqi) at three different planting distances of 20, 25 and 30 cm were determined. The result indicated that both the interactions between plant distance and cultivars of broad beans and that of the distance between plants were not significantly different (p>0.05). However, there were significant differences at p<0.01 for the species of bean based on percentage of growth, plant height, branches/plant, pod length and number of seeds/pod, with average values of 93.66, 35.15, 85.50, 9.60 cm, respectively. At p<0.05, number of nodes on the plant stem with value 30.47, showed a significant effect. However, the number of branches/plant and weight of pods were not significantly different.
