The potential of agro-technical methods, such as climate management, for the management of O. neolycopersici (powdery mildew) in tomato was studied. Under controlled conditions in a growth chamber, the disease did not develop at 28 degrees C. At a relative humidity of 70-99%, the disease was less severe under a high relative humidity. The development of the disease was negatively correlated with low and high temperature ranges, and low relative humidity. Elevated temperature regimes during the day were obtained by closing the side walls of the greenhouse to allow day temperatures of 27-34 degrees C. These conditions were highly effective in reducing disease incidence under greenhouse conditions during the autumn-winter season. The combination of this method with plant extracts and sulfur was reduced powdery mildew severity in greenhouse tomato.
