Study on the effects of different treatments on vegetative factors of Pistacia vera seedling.

The effects of different treatments on vegetative parameters of P. vera cv. Italiaie seedlings, sown on special plastic bags (15x40 cm), filled with agricultural soil, farmyard manure and sand at ratio of 1:1:1, were investigated during 1999-2000 in Iran. The different treatments comprised treatment with Cycocel [chlormequat], root pruning and treatment with copper sulfate. In March 2000, some parameters were measured in shoot organs. Cycocel decreased all the vegetative parameters (seedling length, leaf number, leaf area, crown diameter, wet and dry weights of leaves and stems). There was a significant difference (P<0.01) between the Cycocel liquid and other treatments in all the characteristics. On the other hand, these treatments had no significant difference with Cycocel spray for leaf area..
