摘要

Tinospora cordifolia (Menispermaceae) fruits were studied for pigment profile, carbohydrate content, weight and water content during ontogeny. Carotenoid pigment lycopene appeared in yellow fruits and attained maximum level in matured (red) fruits whereas chlorophyll a and b disappeared after intermediate (yellow) stage. In addition, isoquinoline alkaloid berberine was more in early (green) stage than intermediate and matured stages. Carbohydrate content increased 1.3-fold on maturation, whereas weight and water content did not change significantly.
