A new conservation policy needed for reintroduction of Bengal tiger-white.

摘要

This paper discusses the need for a new conservation policy for the reintroduction of the Bengal white tiger. The origin, beneficial traits (low mortality rate and high birth rate), phenotypic and genetic characteristics and abnormalities of the Bengal white tiger are presented. Moreover, captive breeding of the Bengal white tiger and the possible effects of their reintroduction into the wild are discussed. Focus is given on the probable effects on the gene pool of tigers in the wild.
