Sales of premium cosmetics did not fare well during the economic downturn. The category was the only one within beauty and personal care to see global sales growth slip into negative territory in 2009. Companies have responded differently, with many seeking to appeal to price-conscious consumers by cutting costs, while others have tried to innovate in order to keep or even attract new consumers. The recent ageLOC launch from Nu Skin is one such example.
