Reflecting the threatened status of coalfired power plants, the environmental group WildEarth Guardians filed a suit Friday in an effort to require tougher pollution controls on two major Utah generating facilities. At issue is a plan in Utah to reduce pollution that causes haze. The US Environmental Protection Agency partially rejected a regional haze proposal from Utah in 2012, saying the plan didn’t adopt stringent enough requirements for the 1,320-MW Hunter plant, which PacifiCorp majority owns, or the utility’s 895-MW Huntington plant.
