US thermal coal assessed lower across all specs

Central Appalachian and Powder River Basin thermal coal prices were assessed lower on Monday as declines were seen in the NYMEX June natural gas futures contract, as well as the European-delivered thermal coal market. The June natural gas futures contract fell 7.8 cents to 2.431 dollars/MMBtu on Monday, as traders took profits from the price gains in previous sessions. From April 27-May 11, the June futures contract rose 14.8%.
