In June, Powertech Labs in Surrey - a subsidiary of BC Hydro-unveiled the first public DC fast charger in the province that can power a car for at least 100 kilometres in about half-an-hour. "There are 14 level two charging stations in and around Surrey, but this is the first time there's a level three fast charging station here. And just to put that into perspective, in the time that it takes us to say these few words, in the next 20 minutes the Leaf that came in behind me can be completely charged," said Hayne, who was on hand along with Powertech and Hydro staff to address a large group of owners and enthusiasts, journalists, and industry representatives gathered outside Powertech headquarters at 12388 88 Avenue.
