Gas storage closes in on record

STORAGE OF natural gas has moved ever closer to the all-time record and is on trend to set a new level perhaps within two weeks,according to Energy Department figures issued late last week.Natural gas is the main feedstock for US chemical manufacturing,which has seen North American gas prices jump 300% or more in the past five years.The department said that gas in private underground storage totalled 3.327trn cubic feet (tcf) as of Friday before last,a net gain of 73bn cubic feet (bcf) over the week-earlier total.
