Restructuring is a major theme for surfactant manufacturers that supply the household and personal care markets. Higher raw material costs, increased competiton and lower demand have all conspired to force producers to scale back manufacturing and cut costs. In an effort to restore low margins, most producers have initiated price increases, and there is further upward pricing presure on the industry.
