Upwelling ecosystem in the southern Taiwan Strait Preface and Introduction

It is noteworthy that most of the authors in this issue are associated with Xiamen University as she is considered the cradle of oceanography in China. Infact, the first paper published in an international journal on a marine related investigation in Chinese waters was based on work that was carried out at Xiamen University (Light, 1923). Thus, it is with pleasure that we present this special volume in Continental Shelf Research on Upwelling Ecosystem in the southern Taiwan Strait.
