Lake Shira: Microzonality of the Soil Cover of Lake Depressions in the Shira Steppe

Microzonality was studied on the model object—Shira lake depression. Geometry of the soil structures that comprise the soil cover has been revealed and characteristics of components of soil combinations have been analyzed. In the late 19th century Vasilii Dokuchaev formulated major principles of zonality (further developed by N. M. Sibirtsev, K. D. Glinka, G. N. Vysotskii, and others) as a universal law of nature, which also governs soils. He believed [1] that when analyzing zones the focus should be brought cm soils as they disclose the essence of interaction between natural components: "Soils are a mirror, a clear and truthful reflection, an immediate result of a complex, closest interaction between ... the immemorial and still active soil-forming agents".
