One of the most exciting manufacturing process breakthroughs of our times has been 3D printing or additive manufacturing, wherein the workpiece is built up in successive layers. But the range of materials that can be used for this process has been quite limited to certain photopolymers and thermoplastics or some metals and ceramics.
