Sumitomo Chemical to set up R&D centre in Brazil

Japan's Sumitomo Chemical will set up a new centre in Brazil to carry out efficacy trials, research and development, and analysis of crop protection and other associated products. The company's Brazil arm will operate the Latin America Research Center, which is expected to speed up product development as per the local conditions and needs. Establishing the new centre in the Southern Hemisphere is expected to allow Sumitomo to undertake field trials more efficiently by choosing a region that has suitable climatic conditions. Sumitomo's existing R&D plants are all situated in the Northern Hemisphere, where seasons are different from those in the Southern Hemisphere.
