Oleochemicals industry braces for more supply from Indonesia & Malaysia

Palm oil is the most productive and largest available oil among the world's 17 major oils and fats. In 2012, it had a 32% share of the world's oils & fats output from only 5% (~14-mn ha) of area planted. And production is rising, mainly in Indonesia and Malaysia, as more land is brought under cultivation and productivity is improved. In 2014, output is expected to reach 65-mt (including palm kernel oil, PKO) with crude palm oil (CPO) output alone expected to range between 58-mt and 59-mt.
