Shin-Etsu to increase silicone product prices

Japan's Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd. is set to increase prices of all of its silicone products by 10%, both in Japan and globally, effective from June 2, 2014. The price hike was mainly attributed to rapid rise in production cost of silicone products. Shin-Etsu said the production cost of silicon metal, the main raw material of silicone products, has increased due to the rise in electricity rates in China, a major world silicon metal producer, combined with the impact of fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.
