Dr. Renu Swarup, adviser, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and MD, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Government of India, says that India is well poised to achieve $100-bn target in life sciences by 2025. Over the last four-to-five, the biotechno- logy sector has witnessed a dramatic change. The involvement of the aca-demia with the industry has increased multiple folds and the level of innovation research has improved with this involvement.
