Indian paint market to hit Rs. 49,545-crore by 2016-17

The Indian paint market is forecast to hit Rs. 49,545-crore by 2016-2017, with decorative paints having a higher share than industrial paints, according to a new study from the Indian Paint Association (IPA) and AC Nielsen. In 2011-12, the overall paint market had an estimated value of Rs. 26,040-crore. Decorative paint ac- counted for 71% of this value, while industrial paint made up the rest. In terms of volume, the Indian paint market hit 3.11-mt in 2011-12, with per capita consumption at 2.57-kg.
