Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) has reported a 17-fold jump in net profit for the third quarter ended December, 2011, to Rs. 3,140 crores. Net profit for the corresponding quarter last year was at Rs. 187 crores. During the quarter, the subsidy increased three-fold to Rs. 3,573 crores as compared to Rs. 1,171 crores in thesame quarter a year ago. Net sales for the quarter under review rose 60% to Rs. 58,824 crores from Rs. 36,666 crores in the same quarter previous fiscal. BPCL's total income increased to Rs. 59,263 crores for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 from Rs. 36,996 crores for the quarter ended December 31,2010.
