BPCL approves integrated refinery expansion project at Kochi refinery

The BPCL board has accorded an in-principle approval to the proposed integrated refinery expansion project at the Kochi Refinery. Under the proposal, the firm plans to increase the capacity of its Kochi Refinery by further 6-mtpa to meet the expected demand for petroleum products from the year 2015 and onward. The proposed expansion project also would explore the feasibility of building upgradation facilities that would reduce residual fuel generation and enhance distillates. Facilities to meet the future auto fuel norms have also been proposed as part of the integrated expansion project.
