China Datang completes trial run of polypropylene unit on Dow's technology

China Datang Inner Mongolia Duolun Coal Chemical Company Ltd. has completed the trial-run of the first 'Unipol' polypropylene (PP) gas phase technology under license from Dow Chemical. The trial-run, which took place in November 2009, with the first production of 'Aim' grade PP resin, marked a major breakthrough for the two companies. The Datang plant located in Duolun County, Xilinguole, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, of China, is also the first large scale coal-to-olefm plant in China. Once fully operational, the plant will produce 460,000 tons of PP per year.
