Although ammonia absorption refrigeration (AAR) technology is about a hundred years old, it is being used today in a variety of refrigeration applications due to its versatility and simplicity of operation. The present article discusses the current technical status of the technology, its reach in different industrial sectors and reviews Indian suppliers and their efforts to maximize utilization of this technology in India.
