KMML calls for Eol to set up titanium sponge project

The State-owned Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML) at Chavara in Kollam district has called for Expression of Interest (Eol) from global technology providers for setting up and commissioning of its proposed 10,000-tpa titanium sponge manufacturing unit.If the project goes through,KMML will become the first unit in the country to manufacture titanium sponge.The technology of manufacture of titanium sponge is available with only five countries (Russia,the US,Japan,China and Ukraine),and according to Mr.K.R Rajendran,Managing Director,KMML,companies in Russia,Ukraine,China and the US have already responded to KMML's offer.
