'Assessment of wind and solar resources is extremely vital'

Although India has made significant strides to harness renewable energy through one of the world's largest voluntary programs,there is pressing need for the availability of reliable and robust resource data on which policy makers,regulators,developers and bankers can rely upon for decision-making.Inaugurating a workshop on 'Methodology and Modeling Techniques for Assessing Wind and Solar Resources' in New Delhi,Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy,Mr.Vilas Muttemwar said two specialized institutions - the Centre Wind Energy Technology (C-WET),Chennai and Solar Energy Centre (SEC),Gurgaon - are engaged in undertaking assessment of wind and solar resources respectively.
