Chemical Weekly spoke to Mr.N.Sitaram,General Manager Marketing,Gujarat Alkalies Et Chemicals Ltd.(GACL)to seek his views on the market situation for hydrogen peroxide in India.Here are some extracts from the interview:The production of hydrogen peroxide was first started in India in 1956;prior to this,large quantities were being imported for use in the textiles industry.A small plant,based on the electrolytic process,was started in 1961,by Arat Electrochemical Ltd.(Ahmedabad)and was closed down in 1976,since it had become uneconomical and obsolete.
