Sabic to be world's largest producer of MEG by 2006

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic),the world's 11~(th) largest petrochemical company,is expanding its operations in the Middle East to meet the fast growing demand for the petrochemical segment,especially in intermediates and polyolefins.According to Sabic's Vice President for Intermediates,Mr.Khaled AI-Mana,"We are currently the second largest pro-ducer of ethy-lene glycol in the world and SABIC will become the number one producer in 2006.By 2006,SABIC will have a total ethyl-ene glycol production capacity of 3.9-mt per year and meet over 22% of global demand."
