As the building industry emerges from a long period of recession,polymer demand from the European thermoplastics pipe extrusion companies increased by 2% in 2004,resulting in a material usage of 2.8-mt.Similar growth is expected in 2005 as the market is driven by increased construction activity in EU accession countries and strong showing in Scandinavia,especially Sweden.According to a new report published by AMI Consulting covering over 550 pipe producers in Europe,consolidation and restructuring remains a constant theme in the industry with a 10% decline in the number of companies operating since 2001.
