Ministry pushes for moderate rise in petrol and diesel prices;monthly revision of fuel prices

The Petroleum Ministry has proposed to the Union cabinet a price hike of Rs.2.50 per litre of petrol and Rs.1.30 per litre of diesel to neutralise the impact of changes in duties in the budget and the cost of moving on to higher(Euro-Ill)fuel specifications.The Petroleum Ministry is also pitching for a monthly instead of a fortnightly revision of fuel prices.
