IFA projects surplus in global supply of fertilisers

The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) has issued a summary report on the global supply-demand balances for fertilizers.As per the report,surplus supplies are projected for most major fertilisers including nitrogen,potash,phosphate and trade of ammonia and urea have been on the rise,reflecting a positive environment for future trade prospects.World ammonia and urea production in 2002 increased by 4% an 6% respectively,while in the first quarter of 2003,ammonia trade grew by 20%.Compared with the previous year,the number of firm projects for new ammonia or urea capacities has increased significantly,according to IFA.Most of these projects are located in gas rich areas,with the exception of China.
