Lonza to acquire Capsugel for $5.5 billion in its biggest deal

Lonza (Basel, Switzerland) has agreed to acquire Capsugel (Morristown, New Jersey), a maker of drug capsules and other drug-delivery systems, from private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR; New York, New York) for $5.5 billion in cash, including the refinancing of Capsugel debt of approximately $2 billion. This acquisition is Lonza's largest in the company's 120-year history.
