Celanese adds nylon platform to expand engineered materials

Celanese is adding a nylon platform to its engineered materials portfolio. The products, based on both nylon-6 and nylon-6,6 resins produced outside the company, will extend the performance and application of proprietary technologies already employed using other engineering resins, Celanese says. "One of the things our customers have told us is we need more products in that portfolio because when they go to solve a problem, they will quite often look to classical solutions of it," CEO Mark Rohr explained during the company's fourth-quarter 2015 earnings call. "So if it's historically a nylon problem, we may not be made aware of that opportunity."
