Lubrizol-Sekisui chlorinated PVC JV becomes operational

Sekisui Chemical (Tokyo) says that its previously announced joint venture with Lubrizol for manufacturing chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin in Thailand has become operational. Lubrizol and Sekisui agreed in 2013 to form the jv, S and L Specialty Polymers, which is located in the Hemaraj Eastern Industrial Estate at Map Ta Phut. Sekisui holds a 51% stake in the jv, and Lubrizol holds the remaining 49%. The jv's plant started operating in June and has production capacity for 30,000 m.t./year of CPVC resin. Production capacity at the resin plant will be increased to 40,000 m.t./ year in 2016, and capacity can be increased to 60,000 m.t./year when demand rises. The jv employs 59 people.
