Shin-Etsu to expand silicone monomer production in Thailand by 50%, plans technical center in New Jersey

Shin-Etsu Chemical said on 12 March that it will expand silicone monomer production in Thailand and build a technical center for silicones application development in the United States. Silicones accounted for 13% of Shin-Etsu's ￥1.2 trillion sales {$11.3 billion) in fiscal 2014. The company holds more than 50% of the silicones market in Japan and in 2013 had an 11% share of the estimated $11 billion global silicones market.
