BASF says that Wayne Smith is the new chairman and CEO of its North American subsidiary, effective 1 May. He succeeds Hans Engel, who as CFO for BASF, will relocate to the company's global headquarters at Ludwigshafen and assume additional responsibilities on BASF's board of executive directors. BASF's North America unit has more than 17,000 employees and had sales of $20.6 billion in 2014.
