DSM to cut up to 1,100 jobs, 20% of service function staff

DSM has announced adjustments to its organizational and operating model, which it says have the objective of "creating a more agile, focused, and cost-efficient organization with a stronger business and market focus and globally leveraged support functions." The adjustments will result in 900-1,100 job losses, of which approximately half will be in the Netherlands. "The current population that we are addressing in this program is 4,400 full-time equivalents, so this gives you the overall scope that we are tackling," says CFO Geraldine Matchett. Feike Sijbesma, DSM chairman and CEO, says that the move will reduce the company's support function staff by roughly 20%.
