Evonik to make phthalate-free plasticizer this year

Evonik Industries says it plans to expand its portfolio with the launch of a new generation of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasti-cizers. The company says that, apart from expanding its product lines—which will broaden its range of sustainable plasticizers— it will also develop a new brand of products. The company's plans include the launch of phthalate-free and biobased plasticizers. Evonik's plasticizers are primarily used in the plastics industry, as well as in the automotive and construction industries. Production of the new plasticizers will be at facilities that Evonikbegan building last summer at Marl, Germany. The company's total investment in this project is in the double-digit million-euro range, Evonik says.
